These pages compare Forever with Classic, with retail and Midnight, and with its own Classic and Enhanced presets. They do not rank a winner.
The four axes
Classic is the replay. Forever is the same era with new land, nine dungeons, three raids on 9 December, Skyborne, and six new combinations. Retail's Midnight expansion is a different timeline, and player housing belongs to Midnight, not to this launch.
Classic and Enhanced, inside Forever, are login presets for graphics and interface defaults. They do not change the ruleset or the loot. Worth-it is a fit question: Massively OP and Eurogamer described a smooth start, while Polygon focused on Horde PvP character restrictions. Those reports describe individual launch conditions, not a player-count census.
