Where to go next
Forever is a separate 60-level branch that Blizzard shipped on 4 November 2026, beside modern World of Warcraft and beside Classic. It is not a private server and it does not replace either of those games. The base world still needs an active subscription or Game Time. Skyborne and Zephras Isle sit behind the Heroic pack or a higher edition.
I would start with the free-or-not question, then the edition table, then the graphics check, then the Classic comparison. Those four cards are the decisions that change what you buy. Class pages and the raid list can wait until the client is installed.
What is already on the calendar
Launch content named by Blizzard includes a level cap of 60, more than a thousand new quests, nine new five-player dungeons, the Skyborne race, six new race-and-class pairs, Legacy points, and camping. Three raid instances open on 9 December: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair. Wikipedia's short summary says two raids; that may count the two new raids rather than all three launch instances, so the scopes remain separate on the raid page.

Questions
Can I play Forever in the browser?
No browser build is offered. The client installs from the Battle.net desktop app on Windows or macOS, and this page links to those steps.
Does the subscription include Skyborne?
The subscription covers the base branch. Skyborne and Zephras Isle need the Heroic pack or a higher edition.
