The short version
What is WoW Forever?
World of Warcraft: Forever is a separate continuity set on the 2004 Azeroth, capped at level 60, and it runs beside Classic and beside the modern game.
Not Classic, and not a new expansion
Classic tries to replay the original release. Forever keeps that map and then adds places, quests, dungeons, raids, a race, and new race-class pairs. You can install both. Blizzard has not published a way to move a character or its progress from one product to the other.
There is no level 61 and no Midnight campaign on this branch. Midnight is the modern expansion line. People say Classic+ in forums; the only name on the product page is World of Warcraft: Forever. I use the nickname once, here, so the search matches, and then I drop it.
| Forever | Classic | Modern | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level cap | 60 | Depends on the Classic ruleset | Expansion cap |
| Skyborne | Heroic pack or higher | No | No |
| Realms | Rulesets instead | Server list | Modern realms |

Questions
Is Forever the same client as retail?

Did it replace Classic?
