Races and racials
Eight original races return, and Skyborne joins as two faction branches. The class matrix is the part that actually changed.
The matrix is the story
The choice is between eight original races and Skyborne, which can join either faction as High Order or Windshaper. Blizzard's character-creation matrix and an independent Method guide show the eligible classes for each race below. Six combinations are new: Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Gnome Priest, Undead Paladin, Orc Mage, and Troll Warlock.
Race choice affects faction, starting area, racial abilities, and available classes. Skyborne is the only two-faction choice; its faction determines the exclusive class option (Mage for High Order, Shaman for Windshaper). This page focuses on eligibility rather than ranking racial bonuses: the Skyborne values changed during beta, and the dedicated page keeps the latest dated update separate from earlier values.

Questions
Can every race be every class?
No. Use the character post's matrix. The six new doors are listed above.
Did racials get a pass?
Yes for Skyborne, with a later numerical revision. I am not reprinting a full eight-race percentage sheet from memory.
