Steam Deck and ROG Ally
Neither handheld has a native Forever edition. People are installing the PC client and using the gamepad interface, which Blizzard still marks as beta.
Two devices, one PC client
A September forum thread describes Forever running on a Steam Deck through Proton and also through remote play, with the gamepad UI usable. That is one player's report. Steam Deck HQ has an install guide; the body I fetched was cut off, so I will not quote control layouts or FPS from it.
The ROG Ally is a Windows handheld, so the desktop app is the closer path, still not a special Ally build. Blizzard's November gamepad post says Xbox and PlayStation button icons, 84 action slots, and a beta label on the controller UI. Beta on the UI is not a promise of a Steam or console store page.
| Device | Path I can support | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Deck | PC client via Proton, one forum report | 1 thread |
| ROG Ally | Windows desktop app | Platform list |
| Controller UI | Beta, 84 slots | Official post |
Questions
Is the Deck officially supported?
I have not found a Blizzard support tier named Steam Deck. The report is a player post.
Do I need a special control preset?
The gamepad post is the source. I am not reprinting a dead-zone guide I could not read in full.
