Hardcore is not open
Hardcore is a ruleset Blizzard has promised and has not switched on. There is no death rule to quote because the mode is not live.
Status before rules
The what's-new post and the ruleset guide both say Hardcore follows the launch. A roadmap reading points at winter without a day. I will not invent a one-life ruleset, a guild-death announcement, or an auction-house lock just because Classic Hardcore used them. Those may arrive. They are not printed for Forever.
If you want dangerous play today, the announced Hardcore option is not listed among the four launch rulesets. PvP is a separate live ruleset, not a substitute for a one-life mode. The ruleset announcement describes Normal, PvP, Roleplay, and Roleplay-PvP as the current choices, while later summaries say Hardcore comes later. That establishes availability only: it does not establish whether characters will have one life, whether deaths are recoverable, whether transfers are allowed, or what happens to inventory. Those details remain unpublished in the cited sources, so this page does not borrow Classic Hardcore rules and apply them by analogy.

Questions
Can I flag myself hardcore on Normal?
Nothing in the posts describes a self-imposed flag that Blizzard will enforce.
Will my Normal character convert?
Unknown. I will not promise a migration.
